The importance
of Bill 230
Bill 230 is our legislative focus right now. We were asked to contribute testimony to the Ohio House Homeland Security Committee, in support of this bill, which passed in April of 2024. Here are its key drug-related provisions:
- Increases drug trafficking charges for cocaine, fentanyl-related
compounds, heroin and methamphetamine - Establishes a 5-year mandatory minimum prison term if an individual
is convicted of or pleads guilty to a fentanyl-related death - Allows law enforcement to conduct oral fluid testing
- Designates August as “Fentanyl Poisoning Awareness Month”
- Requires Ohio public schools to instruct students on the dangers of
fentanyl

“I have been to the border myself. We can’t win against the cartels, but we can warn people about the dangers of fentanyl.”
A Roundtable with Congressman Wenstrup
Clermont County recently hosted a fentanyl roundtable with Congressman Wenstrup. Stephanie and Tom Quehl sat down with Congressman Wenstrup to discuss the dangers of fentanyl in Ohio and what is being done to prevent others from losing their lives. They shared their story with a panel of other professionals who are affected by the crisis in Ohio.
